Choralfest in Geelong
Wayfarers Australia performed at the Australian National Choral Association's Choralfest 2026 in Djilang/Geelong. The national conference brought choirs, conductors, educators and singers together from 9-12 April 2026 for concerts, workshops, lectures and masterclasses.
There were two pieces of repertoire performed by Wayfarers; one which consisted solely of choral works by Australian composers (Waltzing Matilda by Ruth McCall, The Wattle Tree by Liam Waterford and Kondalilla by Stephen Leek), and The Prophet by Khalil Gibran, composed by Judy Clingan. There was more to come after the Festival, where a workshop was conducted in Sophia Mundi Steiner School, which provided participants with an opportunity to sing, be an instrumentalist or move eurythmically to the entire composition of The Prophet which comprised seven different parts. The challenge emerged with a new eurythmy coach who taught two brand new movements during the one day workshop and concluded with a performance in the evening.
To cap an intensely uplifting week, a session with handbells took place after the workshop where the light, harmonic melodies of handbells resounded over dinner.
